• Ervin Outlaw 1930 - 1998

    The scholarship, named and created in memory of Latham’s grandfather, Ervin Outlaw has been presented annually since 2007. Students from all Guilford County Schools are presented the opportunity to apply for the scholarship which is awarded to students who “exemplify excellence in and out of the classroom,” according to Latham.

    Students are judged in the following categories:

    1. Academic Excellence – based on grade point average, course load and class rank

    2. Community Service/Extra-Curricular Activities – based on letter(s) of recommendation from community and/or school leaders, proof of participation in school and/or community programs

    3. Personal Statement – based on clarity, grammatical correctness and content
